Purva Sawant is a Design and Innovation Specialist with the United Nations in New York. Her passion lies in using design for social development and driving humanitarian action by creating impactful design solutions.
Born and raised in Mumbai, she started her career in the world of political campaigning and the not-for-profit sector with a focus on Social Innovation. She later pursued a Master’s Degree in Brand Strategy at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. After completing her Master's she went on to work as a designer in the private sector with creative agencies in New York City and Boston with brands like Thinx - For People with Periods.
By applying a human-centric design approach she has helped organizations like the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) to translate complex research and big data into relatable print and digital products, that eventually helped policymakers and country governments to improve the lives of the most marginalized communities globally.
